Tony LaMarr

Tony LaMarr brings over 15 years of experience coaching basketball at the colligate level.

Prior to coming to Harris-Stowe, LaMarr served as a Player Development Coach for the Atlanta Hawks where he performed on-court instruction at camps, clinics, tournaments, leagues and Jr. NBA programs.

Prior to joining the Atlanta Hawks, LaMarr spent 3 years at Clayton State University as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach/Assistant Facilities & Event Management/Special Projects. LaMarr helped the Lakers to a 24-7 mark in 2017-18, which included a Peach Belt Conference Co-Championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. Clayton State's 24 victories were the second-most in program history while the Lakers went 19-3 in league play. They finished the year fourth in the regional rankings and ultimately advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

LaMarr spent six years (2010-2016) at Clark Atlanta University including three years as an assistant (2010-2013) and three years a head coach (2013-2016). While serving as head coach in his first year (2013-14), LaMarr’s Panthers finished third overall in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and garnered 15 wins which were 11 wins better than the prior year. During his time as an assistant, he helped guide the Panthers to a 22-9 overall record in 2010-11. That year the program won its first Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship in 46 years, defeating Stillman 78-71. That earned CAU a return trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament under Head coach Daryl Jacobs.

Prior to his arrival at CAU, LaMarr served as associate head coach at Fort Valley State (2009-2010) and spent one season as an assistant coach at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham (2008-2009) where aside from coaching, his duties at both places included recruiting coordinator, scouting, player development and on floor coaching. His high school coaching stops include Shiloh High School and Central Gwinnett High School where he coached five Division I players..

LaMarr is a graduate of Eastern Oregon University. He and his wife, Natasha, reside in Atlanta, Georgia with their son Anthony LaMarr II.
