ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe men's soccer team was back on the field when they played host to the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University Trojans in the Hornets first conference game of the season. The Hornets were defeated by the Trojans by a final score of 6-0 to fall to 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in the American Midwest Conference. With the win, the Trojans improve to 5-0 on the season.
The Hornets had a tough time getting anything going in the first half as they were only able to create one scoring chance in the period. The Trojans controlled the possession for most of the half and were able to get on the board just 15 minutes into the contest. The Hornets did their best to tie the game before the half but were unable to create anything dangerous as the Trojans took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Harris-Stowe had some misfortune in the second half as an early red card just five minutes into the period gave the Trojans a man advantage. They were able to capitalize as they scored five goals in the final 40 minutes of the game to solidify the win.
Nicholas Morales (SO/Bogota, Colombia) (0-3) stopped 10 shots tonight for the Hornets in goal.
The men's soccer team is back in action on Saturday, October 10th when they play host to the Williams Baptist (Ark.) University Eagles in an AMC matchup. The game is set to kick off at 3 p.m. No spectators will be allowed but live video and live stats will be provided.
