ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Harris-Stowe State volleyball team was back in action this evening when they played host to the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were swept in three straight sets (16-25, 17-25, 9-25) to fall to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the American Midwest Conference.
Harris-Stowe came out in the first set and went point-for-point with the Mustangs as the game remained close for most of the set. However, with the Hornets trailing 16-14 the Mustangs were able to go on an 8-2 run to close out the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Mustangs continued to play well in the second set as they jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead early in the game. The Hornets battled back and were able to cut the score to four, but that was as close as they would get as the Mustangs cruised to a 25-17 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Hornets struggled in the third set as the Mustangs jumped out to a 16-1 lead. The Hornets did their best to get back into the game but the damage had been done as the Mustangs closed them out down the stretch to solidify the sweep.

They were led by Valorie Walker (JR/Houston, Texas) who finished with a team high nine assists and a team high seven digs.
