HORNETS SWEPT BY COUGARS

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Harris-Stowe State University volleyball team was back on the court this evening when they traveled to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the Columbia (Mo.) College Cougars in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were defeated in three straight sets (9-25, 9-25, 11-25) to fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 in the American Midwest Conference. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in the AMC.

Harris-Stowe had a tough time getting anything going in this match as they were held to just 13 kills in the contest. They tallied four kills on 18 attacks in the first set, six kills on 26 attacks in the second set, and three kills on sixteen attacks in the third set. The team finished with 11 total assists and 20 total digs while picking up one block on the night. Columbia College had their attack going all night as they picked up 39 kills on 67 attacks for a season high .507 attacking percentage.

Dasani Hunt (SO/Norman, Okla.) led the way for the Hornets as she finished with a team high seven assists while also recording three kills and five digs. Derricka McClatchery (FR/East St. Louis, Ill.) led the way defensively for the Hornets as she picked up a team high six digs in the contest. Kyanae Toombs (JR/Decatur, Ill.) led the attack for Harris-Stowe as she picked up a team high four kills in the match.

The Hornets will return to the court on Tuesday, November 3rd when they travel to Hannibal, Missouri, to take on the Trojans in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. No fans will be allowed to attend but live video and live stats will be provided.
