HORNETS FINISH UP FALL SEASON

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This evening the Harris-Stowe State University volleyball team was back in action when they traveled down the street to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy to take on the Eutectics in an AMC matchup. The Hornets were swept in three straight sets (20-25, 23-25, 8-25) to fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-6 in the American Midwest Conference. With the win, the Eutectics improve to 8-8 on the season and 5-2 in the AMC.

The Hornets had one of their best attacking nights of the season as they recorded their highest attacking percentage (.173) in a three-set match since October 11th, 2019 against Lyon (Ark.) College. They finished with 27 total kills across three sets as they finished with 10 kills in the first set for an attacking percentage of .222, 11 kills in the second set for an attacking percentage of .267, and six kills in the final set for an attacking percentage of 0.031. The Hornets finished the night with 23 assists, 40 digs, and three total blocks while holding the Eutectics to 44 kills and a .333 attacking percentage.

Ariel Stroud (FR/Tampa, Fla.), Darlene Fenderson (FR/East St. Louis, Ill.), and Dei'Janae Floyd (FR/Tulsa, Okla.) all led the attack for the Hornets as all three finished with a team high six kills in the match. In addition, Mallorie Wooten (FR/East St. Louis, Ill.) and Valorie Walker (JR/Houston, Texas) both finished with a team high nine assists, and Dasani Hunt (SO/Norman, Okla.) finished with a team high 13 digs to round out the top performers for the Hornets.

This marks the end of the fall season for the volleyball team. The team will finish their season in the spring semester.
