Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornets Defeat Panther 5-0

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer team was back in action when they played host to the Principia (Ill.) College Panthers in a nonconference matchup. The Hornets defeated the Panthers by a final score of 5-0 to improve to 2-1-0 on the season.

It did not take the Hornets long to get on the board in this one as they scored just eight minutes into the contest. Anthony Medina had the goal for the Hornets as he was able to finish off a pass from Massimo Kluver for his second goal of the season to make the score 1-0. They were back at it again just a few minutes later when the Hornets earned a penalty after a Principia handball in the box. Ricardo Benini took the penalty for the Hornets and was able to place it in the bottom right corner for his first goal of the season. Harris-Stowe continued to control the possession and were able to score a third goal midway through the half when Juan Sebastain Moreno finished off a pass from Massimo Kluver for his first tally of the season. The Panthers did their best to get back into the game before the half but the Hornets never let them get anything going as the score remained 3-0 at the break.

Harris-Stowe came out in the second half and continued to control the possession to start the period. They were able to take a 4-0 lead with 10 minutes left in the game when they earned a second penalty inside the box. Allessandro Urlati took the kick for the Hornets and was able to find the back of the net for his first goal of the year. Harris-Stowe finished off their scoring in the final minute of the game when Hassan Hassan found Damani Henderson off a corner kick to solidify the win.

Joshua Precious (1-1-0) and Nicholas Morales (1-0-0) split minutes in todays match as they combined to record one save in their first combined shutout of the season.

The Hornets will return to the field on Saturday, September 4th when they play host to the Waldorf (Iowa) University Warriors in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to kick-off at 3 p.m. at Hornets Field.
