Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Hornets Win Third of the Season

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – This afternoon the Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer team was back on the field when they played host to the Waldorf (Iowa) University Warriors in a nonconference matchup. The Hornets defeated the Warriors by a final score of 3-0 to improve to 3-1-0 on the season.

The Hornets came out in the first half and dominated the possession early. They were able to score their first goal of the game just 19 minutes into the contest when Anthony Medina finished off a pass from Ricardo Benini for his third tally of the season. They continued to apply the pressure as the half progressed but were unable to capitalize as the score remained 1-0 at the break.

The Hornets came out in the second half and were able to extend their lead to 2-0 just 13 minutes into the period. Mickel Ravello had the goal for the Hornets as he was able to finish off a pass from Juan Sebastian Moreno for his first goal of the year. The Hornets picked up their third goal of the game with 17 minutes left to play when Dorival Almeida was able to net his first of the season to solidify the win.

Josh Precious (2-1-0) was the starting keeper for the Hornets in this one as he recorded two saves in the game.

The Hornets will return to the field on Tuesday, September 1st when they play host to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) College in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. on Hornets Field.
