BATESVILLE and CONWAY, ARKANSAS – The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team traveled to Arkansas to take on Lyon College and Central Baptist College on Thursday and Saturday. The AMC games did not conclude in favor of the Hornets but there is a lot of season remaining.
In Thursday night's game at Lyon, HSSU fell 72-40, however, this is not reflective of effort.
Keuna Cummings posted 12-points for Harris-Stowe, nine rebounds, and one steal.
Kya Gordon and
Maia Marshall each tallied six points for the Hornets. Gordon also added five steals, three rebounds and one assist.
Toree Jackson made her presence known in the paint by pulling down eight rebounds.
Saturday's contest at Central Baptist was a heartbreaker as the Hornets dropped a 59-54 decision to the Mustangs.
Destiney Amaefula paced the Hornets with 13-points, three rebounds, one block and one steal.
Maia Marshall tallied 11-points, two assists and one rebound.
Deyana Dodd recorded seven points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists.
J'Lessa Jordan tallied six points and seven rebounds.
Harris-Stowe women's basketball will return to St. Louis, to face the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy and Missouri Baptist. The games will be played on the road on Thursday and Saturday at 5:30 pm and 1:00 pm respectively.
