ST. LOUIS - The Harris-Stowe Hornets suffered a heartbreaking 74-71 loss to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in double overtime. The contest between the two opponents proved to be evenly matched as both teams fought for an advantage and victory.
Let's look at the breakdown in scoring by quarters. In the first,
HSSU was outscored 21-8, however in the second, the Hornets rebounded, outpacing the Eutectics 15-8. In the third, both teams scored 16-points, while the fourth saw Harris-Stowe outperform Pharmacy 16-10. In the first overtime,
UHSP scored both teams scored 12-points, forcing the second overtime. In the final five minutes, the Eutectics clinched the win by scoring seven-points and holding the Hornets to four.
Several Harris-Stowe players performed extremely well during the lengthy contest.
Kya Gordon paced the Hornets with 16-points, seven rebounds, four steals, two blocks and one assist.
Taia Smith scored 12-points, seven rebounds and two assists.
J'Lessa Jordan tallied 11-points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
