HANNIBAL, Missouri – The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team traveled to Hannibal, Missouri, to face the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange University in their second conference match-up of the season. In this instant classic, the Hornets escaped with a 54-51 victory.
The opening ten minutes were in favor of the home team as they narrowly outpaced HSSU 14-11. During the second period, the Harris-Stowe's offense exploded, scoring 17 while holding the home team to six. The third quarter also ended in favor of the visiting Hornets as they led the Trojans 16-14. The fourth did go in favor of HLU, as they scored 17 and held HSSU to ten.
Harris-Stowe's victory was a definite team effort as three Hornets scored double-digits. Destiney Amaefula paced the team with 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Autumn Brown tallied 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal. Taia Smith made her presence known with a double-double as she recorded, 10 points, 16 rebounds, four steals, two assists and one block.
The Hornets travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to participate in the HBCU Classic Experience on Saturday, November 26th.
