Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | HSSU Sports Information

Busy Week for Women’s Basketball

ST LOUIS – The women's basketball team has played in three games this week, Hannibal-LaGrange, Williams Baptist and Columbia.

Game One: The Hornets defeated the Trojans 63-45 on Wednesday evening in the Emerson Performance Center. Of four quarters, Harris-Stowe outpaced Hannibal-LaGrange in three. Surina Finnie paced HSSU with 16-points, two-rebounds, one assist and one steal. Destiney Amaefula added nine-points, while Autumn Brown chipped in eight-points, two assists, one rebound, one block and one steal. J'Lessa Jordan and Toree Jackson each tallied 10 rebounds.

Game Two: Harris-Stowe hosted Williams Baptist on Thursday, falling 78-68. The second quarter made the largest impact on the games as the other three proved to be evenly matched. Surina Finnie paced the team with 13-points, four rebounds and one assist. Toree Jackson added 11-points, six rebounds, one block and one steal. Deyana Dodd scored nine-points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. It was Taia Smith's eight rebounds that paced the Hornets' defense.

Game Three: HSSU faced off against Columbia on Saturday, dropping the contest 74-43. Despite being an intense contest, the Hornets were unable to pull it off. J'Lessa Jordan led Harris-Stowe with 12-pointsm three rebounds and one block. Keuna Cummings added 10-points, seven rebounds and one steal. Taia Smith scored 9-points, three rebounds and one assist.

Harris-Stowe will return to action on Thursday, February 17th at 5:30 pm, when they host Lyon College.
