ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball team hosted the Scots of Lyon College on Friday morning in the Emerson Performance Center, dropping the contest 80-59.
In the opening quarter, the Scots were able to take an early lead. At the conclusion of the first ten-minutes, Lyon held a 26-12 advantage. The second quarter was more competitive as the Hornets outpaced the Scots 21-13. Going into the halftime break, HSSU was down 39-33.
In the third, the Scots scored 19-points, while holding the Hornets to 11. The final 10-minutes of the contest went in favor of Lyon.
Deyana Dodd paced the Hornets with 10-points, two-rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Surina Finnie scored eight-points, three-rebounds, one assist and one steal.
J'Lessa Jordan also tallied eight-points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal.
The Hornets scored 32-points in the paint, 18-points off turnovers, seven second chance, two points on fast break points and 29 bench points.
Harris-Stowe will host the Central Baptist College Mustangs on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm. The seniors of the program will be honored prior to tipoff.
