ST LOUIS – The men's basketball team had a very busy week, playing in three games. Harris-Stowe's men hosted Hannibal-LaGrange and Williams Baptist, while traveling to Columbia.
Game One: In the first contest of the week, the Hornets played a well-balanced contest, however, Hannibal-LaGrange was able to secure the victory in the second half.
Jamarr Joseph scored 11-points, four steals and two rebounds. Elmelik Martin, Jr., left his mark with 10-points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. Both
Jeremiah Hurst and
Xavier Riullano scored seven-points. Hurst also paced Harris-Stowe with seven rebounds.
Game Two: The contest between Harris-Stowe and Williams Baptist was highlight reel worthy. From Elmelik's Martin, Jr.'s double-double to his shot from beyond half court at the buzzer, signifying the conclusion of the opening half. The score entering the locker room was knotted at 34, making it anyone's game in the final 20-minutes. In the final half, WBU was able to gain a slight advantage and carry it to a nine-point victory.
Jamarr Joseph scored 11-points, four steals and two rebounds. Martin tallied 10-points, 10 assists, one rebound and one steal. Jeremiah Hirst and Zavier Riullano each added seven-points. Hurst also added seven rebounds.
Game Three: Saturday's contest was a difficult outing for the Hornets. Statistically, Harris-Stowe showed grit and determination throughout the contest.
Jeremiah Hurst tallied 16-points, nine rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
Jamarr Joseph added 10-points, six rebounds and one block.
Sion Lightfoot contributed nine-points and four rebounds.
Riley Barnes and Elmelik Martin, Jr., each totaled eight-points.
Harris-Stowe will return to action on Thursday, February 17
th at 7:30 pm, when they host Lyon College.
