ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team defeated the Central Baptist College Mustangs, 60-56, on senior day.
The first quarter started really slow for both teams as the first points were not scored until Regan Roetzel scored a three-point basket at the 4:22 mark.
Destiney Amaefula responded with a three-pointer for the Hornets. Harris-Stowe outpaced Central Baptist, 15-5 in the opening quarters.
The second quarter was evenly matched 15-all. Entering the break after the two quarters, HSSU was maintaining a 30-20 edge.
The second half, Central Baptist was able to out perform Harris-Stowe, 14-11 in the third and 22-19 in the fourth.
Surina Finnie, in front of family and friends on senior day, paced the Hornets with 12-points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Destiney Amaefula scored 12-points, seven rebounds and one steal.
Ronne'zja Elliot, also a senior, scored nine-points, two assists and one rebound. Senior,
Keuna Cummings tallied 12-rebounds.
Harris-Stowe will host Stephens College on Monday, February 21
st at 7:00 pm.
