ST. LOUIS – Women's basketball opened the AMC Tournament at home, hosting the Stars of Stephens. In a dominating fashion, the Hornets defeated the Stars 75-58.
Despite the win, HSSU started slowly prior to applying pressure. Stephens won the opening ten minutes, 52-14, however the final three quarters were all Harris-Stowe. In the second, Harris-Stowe outpaced Stephens 26-11. In the third and fourth, HSSU led 18-11 and 17-11, respectively.
It was a team effort for the Hornets as four members of the team scored in double digits.
Maia Marshall led the team with 13-points and one assist.
Surina Finnie scored 12-points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Deyanna Dodd and
Keuna Cummings each added ten-points. Cummings also added seven rebounds and one steal. Dodd also added two rebounds, two steals and one block.
Advancing in the tournament, the Hornets will face the Scots of Lyon College on Thursday, February 24
th at 5:30 pm.
