FULTON, Mo. – The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team were unable to hold off a late press by the Owls of William Woods on Sunday afternoon. Despite leading the majority of the contest, WWU was able to clinch a 54-51 victory.
Let's take a look at the score by the quarters. In the first, HSSU outscored WWU 17-12. The second was low scoring, the Owls scored 10, while the Hornets scored nine. After the break, Harris-Stowe scored 14 and held William Woods to 12. The final quarter was a difficult one as the Owls put up 20-points and held the Hornets to 11.
For the second game in the two days,
Surina Finnie led the offensive charge for Harris-Stowe, with 15-points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal.
Destiney Amaefula soared with 12-points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist.
Taia Smith scored eight-points, three rebounds and one steal.
Toree Jackson paced the Hornets with six rebounds.
Harris-Stowe will return to the Hornets' Nest to host Hannibal-LaGrange on Tuesday, February 8
th at 5:30 pm and Williams Baptist on Thursday, February 10
th at 5:30 pm.
