CONWAY, Ark. – The Harris-Stowe baseball team, skillfully defeated the Mustangs of Central Baptist College. In Game One, the Hornets won 12-7 and Game Two, 13-9.
Game One:
The Hornets of HSSU started scoring early. Harris-Stowe scored three runs in the first and second inning. In the third, HSSU tallied four runs. The Hornets scored their final two runs in the top of the sixth.
Davie Pound homered to centerfield for three RBIs, as
Turner McDonald and
Alek Sierra scored on the play.
Luke Lampros homered in top of the second.
Logan Dryden singled to second base to bring Perez, across home plate. McDonald singled to right field to score Dryden.
Bay To landed a deep sacrifice fly to centerfield to score
Hunter Miller. Dryden grounded out to the second basemen, however he earned an RBI for propelling
Alex Lopez home. Sierra reached on an error by the right fielder, while
Edgar Perez, Jr., scored. Despite McDonald striking out swinging, he reached on an error by the catcher and Sierra scored.
In the top of the sixth,
Austin Palacios singled and was called out at second on a pass from leftfield. He was however able to push
Davie Pound and
Maurice LaFon to score.
The Hornets finished the game with 12 runs on 10 hits and two errors.
Game Two:
The Hornets were able to score first, however the Mustangs were able to build a slight lead. Undeterred, Harris-Stowe battled back and claimed the contest, 13-9.
In the top of the first, HSSU scored two runs.
Hunter Miller was hit by a pitch scoring
Logan Dryden.
Luke Lampros walked to score LaFon. In the second,
Bay To nailed a homer over the centerfield wall. In the fourth,
Turner McDonald singled to score
Alek Sierra.
In the sixth, LaFon homered to the right field and scored McDonald on the play. To nailed another homer in the seventh over the left field.
Davie Pound singled to score
Alex Lopez and
Logan Dryden.
To (Bay) proved he had the magic touch, stepping up to knocked another homer to left center. McDonald doubled to right center to score
Alek Sierra.
Hunter Miller singled to score McDonald.
In the top of the ninth, McDonald reached first on a fielder's choice to score To.
The Hornets completed the contest with 13 runs, 18 hits and one error.
The rubber match between the two times will be held tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
