ST. LOUIS – Gearing up for a long home stretch, the Hornets volleyball team fell 3-1 to the Griffins of Fontbonne University.
Score Breakdown: 25-14, 25-11, 27-25, 25-15
Despite falling 3-1, the Hornets never gave up on the contest and statistically they were strong. Far from being a pushover team, Harris-Stowe outpaced the Griffins in assists with 38 and kills with 38. HSSU also tallied five blocks, three aces and 25 digs.
Jayden Sortor paced the Hornets with 15 kills while Ariel Stroud and A'nyla Watson each tallied seven. In aces, Nyah Parker, Darlene Fenderson and Mallorie Wooten each recorded one. Blocks were dead even as Stroud, Watson and Sortor each tallied 2.0. In the assist column, A'Nia Ware dominated with 32, Watson added three and Nickeal Clark added three and two respectively.Clark led the team in digs with 16 and Watson and Ware tallied four and three each.
