ST. LOUIS – The Harris-Stowe women's basketball team faced a tough opponent in the Spartans of Missouri Baptist, falling 84-50 in the Emerson Performance Center.
In the first 20 minutes (1st and 2nd quarters), Harris-Stowe tallied a combined 18 points, nine-points in each quarter. Missouri Baptist scored 23 in the first and 21 in the second. Entering the locker-room for halftime, the score was 44-18, in favor of the Spartans.
The third quarter saw MBU outpace HSSU 20-12, while the final quarter both teams finished with 20-points.
Taia Smith paced the Hornets with 15-points, six rebounds and one steal. Samara Swire tallied eight points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal. Destiney Amaefula finished with seven points, four rebounds and one steal.
Harris-Stowe will return to action on January 14th at 1:00 pm, when they host Central Baptist College in the Emerson Performance Center.
