NEVADA, Mo. – Harris-Stowe State University's women basketball team took a quick trip to Nevada, Missouri, to face the Comets of Cottey College.
Both teams had to get their offense rolling as the opening period finished 11-9, in favor of the Comets. In the second, HSSU edged past CC in the second, scoring 14-11, to enter halftime with a 23-22 lead. Exiting the locker room, the Comets took the final two quarters with 15 and 20 while holding the Hornets to nine in both.
Samara Swire led scoring with 12-points, three rebounds and one steal, while Autumn Brown tallied 11-points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Destiney Amaefula added eight-points, two rebounds and one assist. Taia Smith and Toree Jackson each contributed four points each.
Claudia Hadlock paced the Comets with 19-points.
Harris-Stowe will return to action on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 pm, when the team hosts the Scots of Lyon College in the Emerson Performance Center.
