ST. LOUIS – In their home contest against the Scots of Lyon College, the Hornets women's basketball team were unable to close out the contest, falling 67-52.
In the opening period both teams came out fighting for the upper hand, however the Scots emerged with an 18-15 advantage. In the second, Lyon outscored Harris-Stowe 14-12 to enter halftime up 32-27. The third quarter ended with both teams scoring 13-points each. In the final period, Lyon finished 22-12.
Autumn Brown led the Hornets in points with 15. She also added three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Destiney Amaefula tallied 14-points, two rebounds and two steals. Keuna Cummings had seven-points, seven rebounds, one block and two steals. Toree Jackson paced Harris-Stowe with nine rebounds.
Allison Byars paced the Scots with 22-points.
Harris-Stowe will return to action on Thursday, February 2nd at 5:30 pm, when the team hosts the Eagles of Williams Baptist College in the Emerson Performance Center.
