ST. LOUIS – It's not Halloween nor is it Friday the 13th, therefore the Hornets were not afraid to face the Tigers of Voorhees University in South Carolina. Their lack of fear showed in the form of a 14-9 victory.
Things started slow for the Hornets in the first as they were only able to score one run, while allowing two from the Tigers. The second inning was all Harris-Stowe, as they exploded with five runs and held Voorhees scoreless. In the third, HSSU scored an additional run and relinquished two to VU. The fourth was scoreless and the fifth saw the Tigers score two more runs.
In the words of Kirk Franklin, "It ain't over!" In the sixth, the Hornets scored twice and Vorhees returned the favor with three of their own, however, that would be their last time reaching home plate. In the seventh, Harris-Stowe scored five runs to close out scoring and to secure the win.
HSSU finished with 14 runs on 17 hits and one error. Ramaya Atuatasi took the victory for the Hornets in the circle.
