ST. LOUIS – Harris-Stowe's softball team hosted the Comets of Cottey College in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader on a surprisingly beautiful day. Saturday started off dreary, reflecting the storm cells that pushed through on Friday night, however, the sun came out to provide relief for the players. In game one, Cottey won 18-0 and 12-1 in game two.
Game One
Cottey scored two in the first, one in the second, seven in the third and fourth and their final run in the fifth.
HSSU finished with one hit and one error.
Cindy Sanchez recorded the loss for the Hornets in the pitcher's circle.
Game Two
Cottey scored four runs in the top of the first and HSSU scored once in the bottom of the inning, when B. Sanchez sacrificed to the second baseman, allowing Maya Rogers to score.
The Comets scored once in the second and seven in the top of the fifth.
Harris-Stowe finished with one run on four hits and one error.
Ramaya Atuatasi took the loss for the Hornets.
