ST. LOUIS – The Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University fell to the Mustangs of Central Baptist College in a doubleheader, however there were some highlight worthy plays made by HSSU. Pound nailed four balls over the fence for the Hornets between both contests. In game one, Harris-Stowe faltered 11-3 and 18-11 in game two.
Pound's homer in game one came in the bottom of the third, scoring Hunter Miller and Alek Sierra.
In game two, Pound attempted to knock the stitches from the ball on his first homerun of the contest and second for the day. Alek Sierra also scored on the play. Zach Lopez singled to push Hunter Miller home in the bottom of the third.
In the fourth, Al. Sierra doubled to score Cam Pratt, Miller sent a sacrifice fly to left field to scored Ben Kurkowski, Will Menendez doubled to score Pound and Al. Sierra, and a single by Julian Cintel scored Menendez.
In the sixth and eighth innings, Pound homered to assist the Hornets' offensive efforts.
Harris-Stowe and Central Baptist will meet again in the rubber match on Saturday, April 22nd at 12:00 pm. HSSU will host senior day prior to first pitch at 11:30 am.
