SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 7-0 road win against Mission University on Friday night. With their third win in a row, the Hornets improve to 5-5-4 on the season and 3-2 in American Midwest Conference play while Mission falls to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 in AMC play.
The Hornets would control the game throughout the match as they would score in the 24th minute thanks to junior midfielder
Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano, Italy/Liceo Galileo Galilei) scoring his fifth goal of the season. After Mori's goal the Hornets would continue to add on.
In the 41st minute, Mori would score his second goal of the night and sixth of the season to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead. Just two minutes later, senior forward
Janik Buch (Suederbrarup, Germany) would score his second goal of the season to put the Hornets up 3-0 late in the first half. The Hornets would carry the 3-0 lead into the half.
In the second half it was more of the same for the Hornets with Buch scoring his second of the game in the 51st minute to put the Hornets up 4-0. Six minutes later Buch would score his third of the game to push the lead to 5-0. Buch's hat trick is the first for the Hornets since
Jose Uribe recorded a hat trick against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy since October 21, 2023.
Freshman forward
Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) would record his first career collegiate goal in the 82nd minute to put the Hornets up 6-0. Guerrero would add a second goal in the 85th minute on a penalty kick.
Junior goalkeeper
Michael Brennan (Manchester, England/Neosho County Community College) would record two saves while sophomore goalkeeper
Louis Noisiez (Vred, France/Institut d'Anchin) would make three saves in net in the second half.
The Hornets would record season-highs in shots with 32, shots on goal with 19 and tied with eight corner kicks. The Hornets out shot the Patriots 32-9, with a 19-5 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-0 advantage in cornet kicks.
