Buch's Two Goals Help Hornets Finish in 2-2 Draw at Missouri Baptist

CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer earned a 2-2 draw Wednesday night at Missouri Baptist. With the tie, the Hornets are 5-5-5 on the season and 3-2-1 in American Midwest Conference play while the Spartans are 8-5-2 on the season and 3-0-2 in AMC play.

The Spartans would score in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Hornets would create a couple chances in the first half as they were unable to get one past the keeper and would trail 1-0 after the first 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Spartans would score in the 57th minute to take a 2-0 lead.

Senior forward Janik Buch (Suederbrarup, Germany) would cut the Spartans lead in half with his fifth goal of the season in the 60th minute off of a pass from senior midfielder Haimar Garcia (Madrid, Spain IES Francisco Agala). Buch would score his sixth of the season and second of the game in the 69th minute off of an assist from Garcia to tie the game at two.

Junior goalkeeper Michael Brennan (Manchester, England/Neosho County Community College) would make three saves in net. Sophomore goalkeeper Louis Noisiez (Vred, France/Institut d'Anchin) would record a save in 32 minutes.

The Spartans would hold a 16-11 advantage in shots and 6-5 advantage in shots on goal while the Hornets had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday, October 26th at 3:30 pm against Williams Baptist College at Hornets Field. Saturday is Senior Day and a pregame ceremony honoring the seniors will take place before the game.
