ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer fell 2-0 to #15 Columbia College at Hornets Field on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 2-5-4 on the season and 0-2 in American Midwest Conference play while the Cougars improve to 6-1-2 and 2-0 in AMC play.
The Hornets would have two chances in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net as the game was scoreless at halftime.
In the second half the Hornets would have multiple chances off the foot of senior forward
Janik Buch (Suederbrarup, Germany), but the Cougars keeper made the save on both chances including a kick save to keep the game scoreless.
Columbia would break the tie with a goal in the 68th minute and would add on in the 83rd minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Junior goalkeeper
Michael Brennan (Manchester, England/Neosho County Community College) would make two saves in the match.
The Hornets would hold a 14-13 advantage in shots and an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal while Columbia held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hornets are back in action next Saturday, October 12th at 4 pm as they travel to Conway, Ark. to play Central Baptist College.
