ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball in fall three sets (17-25, 23-25, 18-25) at Williams Baptist University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 4-22 on the season and 0-10 in American Midwest Conference play while the Lady Eagles improve 9-17 on the season and 4-5 in AMC play.
The Lady Hornets would hold a 6-3 lead early in the first set before a 3-0 run by the Lady Eagles tied the score at six. After a kill by sophomore middle hitter
Saniah Files (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) would put the Lady Hornets up 8-7. A 9-3 run by the Lady Eagles up 16-11 and force a timeout by the Lady Hornets. The Lady Eagles would close out the set 25-18.
A 4-1 run by the Lady Eagles put them up to start set two before a 4-0 Lady Hornets to put them up 5-4 thanks to a kill from senior middle hitter
Jayden Sortor (Sherman, Ill./Parkland College) and back-to-back aces from sophomore outside setter
Dejah Foster (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods). After taking a 12-10 lead the Lady Eagles would go ahead 15-14. A 4-1 Lady Hornets would them up 18-16. The Lady Eagles would end on a 9-5 run to win set two 25-23.
The Lady Eagles would hold an 8-7 lead before a kill from freshman middle hitter
Jehireh Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) would tie the score at eight. A 7-1 run by the Lady Eagles would put them 15-9. Williams Baptist would close out set three on a 10-9 run to take the win.
Sortor would record six kills while junior outside hitter A'nlya Watson (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) would record five kills. Sophomore setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) would record 13 assists and sophomore outside hitter
Kyla McReynolds (O'Fallon, Ill./Althoff Catholic) would record 18 digs.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, November 7th at 6 pm against the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy at Emerson Performance Center. Thursday's game will also be senior night.
