Women's Basketball Falls on Road to Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball fell 80-42 on the road to Brescia University on Thursday night. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-1 on the season while the Bearcats improve to 3-0 on the season.

After a layup from junior guard Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) would cut the Bearcats lead to 8-6, the Bearcats would go on a 9-0 run to go up 17-6. Senior forward Toree Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) would hit a three to cut the lead to 17-9. A layup from junior forward Marchi Hunter (Menifee, Calif./Vista del Lago) would cut the lead to 21-12. The Bearcats would hold a 25-12 lead after the first quarter. 

A jumper from freshman guard Jayla Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) and a three from senior forward J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) would cut the Bearcats lead to 40-22. The Bearcats would close out the quarter on a 7-2 run to take a 47-24 lead into halftime.

A jumper amd a three from Jackson would help the Lady Hornets go on a 5-2 run to start the second half. The Bearcats would go on a 20-7 run to close out the third quarter. Freshman forward Armani Bingham (St. Louis, Mo./Clyde C. Miller) would score the first four points of the fourth quarter. The Bearcats would close on an 9-2 to close out the 80-42 win.

Jackson would finish just shy of a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds to lead the team. Jordan would record a game-high four blocks. Freshman guard Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) would record two steals.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Saturday, November 9th at 1 pm in Louisville, Ky. against Simmons College.
