LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Harris Stowe State University men's basketball falls 68-65 on Saturday afternoon in the rematch against Simmons College. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 1-4 on the season while the Falcons improve to 1-3.
After trailing 5-2 early a free throw from senior forward
Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) would cut it to 5-3 and start a 8-0 run for the Hornets that included a layup from senior guard
Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College), a layup from senior guard
Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) and a three from junior forward
Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) would put the Hornets up 10-3. The Falcons would respond with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 12-10. A three from Amos III and a layup from junior forward
Koran Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) would push the lead to 17-12. The Falcons would go on a 9-2 run to go up 21-19. The Hornets would score 11 of the final 20 points in the half to be tied at 30.
A three and a free throw from Chargois would tie the game at 34 in early in the second half. The Falcons would go on a 9-4 run to go up 43-38. Free throws from junior forward
Jalen Watson (East St. Louis, Ill./St. Louis Community College) and senior guard
Freddy Reeves Jr. (Minneapolis, Minn./Chardon State University) and a three from Chargois would put the Hornets up 45-42. A layup and two free throws from Reeves Jr. and a jumper from Amos III would help extend the lead to 52-43. A three and a layup from Chargois would push the Hornets lead to 59-45. The Falcons would close the game on a 23-6 run to close the game.
Chargois would record a game-high 21 points. Lampley would add 12 points, while Amos III added 11 and Reeves Jr. added 10. Watson would record 12 rebounds in the game for the Hornets. The Hornets would go 23-59 (39.0 percent) from the field, 5-21 (23.8 percent) from three, and 14-23 (60.9 percent) from the free throw line.
The Hornets are back in action on Monday, November 11th at 7 pm at Emerson Peformance Center against NCAA DIII Fontbonne University.
