ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell in both games of the doubleheader on Friday to the 14th ranked Missouri Baptist Spartans at Spartan field with the Hornets being the home team. The Spartans took game one 15-0 in game one in seven innings and took game two 12-0 in seven innings. The Hornets fall to 1-14 on the season and 0-5 in American Midwest Conference play while the Spartans improve to 20-7 on the season and 5-0 in AMC play.
In game one, the Spartans broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third with five runs thanks in part to a two run double. The Spartans would take on eight in the fifth with the big hit in the inning being a grand slam.
Junior outfielder
Dwayne Daggs (St. Louis, Mo.) would record two hits in the game while junior third baseman
Tyson Dent (Memphis, Tenn.) and first baseman
Hunter Miller (Chesterfield, Mo./Upper Iowa University) would record a hit a piece.
In game two, the Spartans would once again break the scoreless tie in the top of the third with a solo homerun to center. The Spartans bats would stay hot with two runs in the fourth, five in the fifth including a three run home run to break the game open, two in the sixth off a two run homerun and two in the seventh.
Dent would record the lone hit in game two for the Hornets.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, March 23rd against Missouri Baptist at Spartan Field with first pitch schedulded for noon.
