Boland's Big Day not enough as Hornets Fall in Series Finale

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell in a hard fought game to close out the series with Central Baptist College. The Mustangs took the game 12-10 over the Hornets. With the loss the Hornets fall to 1-21 on the season and 0-12 in the American Midwest Conference while the Mustangs improve to 26-9 and 9-3 in AMC play.

Junior outfielder Za'Maree Tillman (Bakersfield, Calif.) got the Hornets on the board in the top of the second with a double down the first base line to score senior infielder Devin Rader (Dallas, Texas/Cedar Hill). Junior outfielder Skywalker Mann (Lee Summit, Mo.) would extend the Hornets lead to 2-0 in the third with an infield single that scored junior shortstop Austin Martin (Roxana, Ill.). Senior infielder Julian Cintel (St. Louis, Mo.) would drive in the Hornets third run with a sacrifice fly that scored junior outfielder Dwayne Daggs (St. Louis, Mo.). The Hornets third run in the third would come on a passed ball as junior third baseman Tyson Dent (Memphis, Tenn.) would score to give the Hornets a 4-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth.

The Mustangs would cut the lead to 4-1 after three innings. Junior infielder Jack Boland (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Community College) would push the lead to five with a two-run home run in the fourth that would score senior outfielder Xavier Fulller (Memphis, Tenn./Middle College). Fuller would steal home in the sixth to give the Hornets a 7-1 lead. Daggs would record a two-run double in the sixth to score Martin and Fuller to give the Hornets a 9-1 lead.

The Mustangs would chip away and cut the lead to 9-5 after six innings before adding one in the seventh. Boland would push the lead to 10-6 in the top of the eighth with his second home run of the day.

The Mustangs would score six in the eighth to take a 12-10 lead.

All nine starters recorded a hit with Daggs recording three to lead the way for the Hornets.

The Hornets are back in action this Friday, April 12th against William Woods University in Fulton, Mo.
