SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer fell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. With the loss the Hornets fall to 0-1-1 on the season while Saint Mary-of-the-Woods improves to 1-2 on the season.
The Hornets and Pomeroys were scoreless at the half before the Pomeroys would score an early goal in the second half to take a 1-0 advantage. The Pomeroys would add a second goal in the 69th minute to go ahead 2-0. The Hornets would cut the lead in half with a goal in the 81st minute with a goal from junior forward
Kenneth James Sigler (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North).
The Hornets and Pomeroys would both finish with 10 shots while the Hornets held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Michael Brennan (Manchester, England/Neohso County Community College) would make two saves in nets. The Hornets also held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
The Hornets return to action next Saturday, August 31st at 3 pm against Culver-Stockton College at Cardinal Ritter High School.
