Volleyball Falls to Paul Quinn and Langston to Close Out Panther Classic

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball concluded the Panther Classic hosted by Philander Smith University. The Lady Hornets fell in three sets (10-25,23-25,19-25) to Paul Quinn College and in four sets (25-23,17-25,15-25,20-25) to Langston University. With the loses the Lady Hornets fall to 1-6 on the season.

Junior outside hitter A'nyla Watson (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) would lead the way with 10 kills against Paul Quinn. Sophomore middle blocker/right side hitter Trinity Edison (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Central) would add nine kills. Sophomore setter Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) would record 14 assists while freshman setter Jayla Payne (San Antonio, Texas/Wagner) would add 13 assists.

In the second match, would race out to a 13-7 lead in the first set and extend the lead to 21-14 after the next 15 points before winning the set 25-23. Freshman middle hitter Jehireh Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) would record a career-high 12 kills in the match. Sophomore outside hitter Kyla McReynolds (O'Fallon, Ill./Althoff Catholic) would lead the team with 12 digs while defensive specialist Alexis Kemp (Kansas City, Mo./University Academy) would add 11 digs and Smith would add 10 digs. Smith would record her first double-double on the season with 15 assists and the 10 digs.

The Lady Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, September 3rd at 6 pm against Culver-Stockton College at the Emerson Performance Center.
