WILBERFORCE, Ohio - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball fell in four sets (25-20,23-25,23-25,18-25) on Wednesday night against Central State University. With the loss the Lady Hornets fall to 3-10 on the season while the Marauders improve to 1-4 on the season.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first set before the Marauders went on a 6-0 run to take an 8-7 lead. The Lady Hornets would go on a 7-3 run to take a 14-11 lead before a 4-0 run by the Marauders to go up 15-14. The Lady Hornets would go on an 11-5 run to win the first set 25-20.
The Lady Hornets would lead 19-14 before an 11-4 run by the Marauders to win set two 25-23. The third set would go back and forth before the Marauders would win 25-23. The fourth set the first 10 points would be split at five. The next eight points would be split and leave the score at 9-9. The Marauders would close the set on a 16-9 run to win 25-18.
Sophomore outside hitter
Kyla McReynolds (O'Fallon, Ill./Althoff Catholic) would lead the way with 11 kills, while freshman middle hitter
Jehireh Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) would add 10 kills. Sophomore right side
Trinity Edison (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Central) would add eight kills. Sophomore setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) would record 21 assists while freshman setter
Jayla Payne (San Antonio, Texas/Wagner) would recorded a career-high 19 assists. Junior defensive specialist Makayla Hernadez (San Antonio, Texas/Lawton) would record a team-high 15 digs.
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Tuesday, September 17th at 6 pm at Emerson Performance Center against Rust.
