ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball fell in three sets (24-26,21-25,11-25) to Blackburn College on Tuesday night. With the loss the Lady Hornets fall to 4-11 on the season while the Beavers improve to 1-12 on the season.
Blackburn would take an early 7-2 lead in the first set before a 7-2 run by the Lady Hornets to tie the set at 9-9. Blackburn would win 17 of the next 32 points to win set one 26-24.Â
In set two, the first 16 points were split at eight a piece. A 4-0 run by the Lady Hornets put them ahead 12-8 before a 8-3 run by the Beavers to take a 16-15 lead. The Beavers would close set two on a 9-6 run to go up two sets.
In set three, would hold a 16-7 lead and close out the set and match with a 9-4 run.
Junior outside hitter
A'nyla Watson (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) would record six kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Senior middle hitter
Jayden Sortor (Sherman, Ill./Parkland College) would record seven kills in the match. Sophomore setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) recorded 11 assists in the match. Sophomore defensive specialist
Dejah Foster (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) would record a team-high 15 digs.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Friday, September 27th at 6 pm at the Emerson Performance Center against American Midwest Conference opponent Mission University.
