CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 79-69 at Missouri Baptist on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-11 on the season and 1-6 in American Midwest Conference play while the Spartans improve to 8-9 on the season and 5-2 in AMC play.

Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) would tie the game at two with a layup. A three from senior guard
Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) would give the Hornets a 5-4 lead. Senior forward
Keondre Brown (Los Angeles, Calif./Grandview University) would cut the Spartans lead to 9-7 with a layup. A jumper from sophomore guard
Justin Coleman (St. Louis, Mo./Delta State University) would cut the deficit to 15-11. A layup from senior forward
Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) would cut the deficit to 15-13. A three from Brown cut the Spartans lead to 23-18 with 8:30 left in the first half.

Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College) would cut the deficit to 25-20 with just over five minutes left in the first half. A layup from Brown cut the deficit to three. After two free throws from Amos III the Spartans led 27-24. The Spartans closed out the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 38-26 lead into the half.
The Spartans started the second half on a 12-2 run to push their lead to 50-28. After four free throws from Amos III cut it to 50-32. Coleman would make two free throws and a three from Chargois would cut the deficit to 56-37. Another Chargois three would cut it to 58-40. Two free throws from Amos III cut the lead to 61-44. Brown would make two free throws and a layup while senior guard
Kevin Jones (Sikeston, Mo./Dakota State University) would make two free throws to cut it to 64-50 in favor of the Spartans. A three and a layup from Chargois would cut the Spartans lead to 74-61. The Hornets would score eight of the final 13 points in the game.
Amos III would lead the way with 18 points while Chargois added 15, Brown added 13 and Lampley added 10. Chargois recorded 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Amos III and junior guard
Justin Edwards (Corona, Calif./Oakwood University) each recorded three steals.
The Hornets went 22-64 (34.4%) from the field, 5-19 (26.3%) from three and 20-22 (90.9%) at the free throw line.
The Hornets are back in action on Thursday, January 16th against Mission University at 7:30 pm at Emerson Performance Center.
