HANNIBAL, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball falls 91-79 at Hannibal-LaGrange on Thursday night. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 6-14 on the season and 3-9 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 9-10 on the season and 6-6 in AMC play.
Junior forward
Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) would open the scoring with a three to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead. The Trojans would go on an 8-0 run before a three from sophomore guard
Justin Coleman (St. Louis, Mo./Delta State University) to cut the deficit to 8-6. A three from senior guard
Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College) would cut the deficit to 10-9. Two free throws from senior guard
Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) cut the deficit to 15-11. A three from Lampley and a layup from senior guard
Kevin Jones (Sikeston, Mo./Dakota State University) gave the Hornets a 16-15 lead. A three from senior forward
Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) cut the deficit to 22-21. The Trojans would close the first half on an 18-4 run to hold a 40-25 lead at the half.
A three from Amos III cut the deficit to 43-28. A layup from Coleman cut the deficit to 48-32. A layup from junior forward
Koran Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) cut the deficit to 53-34. A layup from junior guard
Justin Edwards (Corona, Calif./Oakwood University) would cut the deficit to 58-39. A three from Edwards cut the deficit to 64-44. A jumper from Chargois and two layups from Lampley cut the deficit to 64-50. A jumper from Amos III cut the deficit to 69-52. A three and two free throws from Chargois cut the deficit to 72-60. A three from Burse cut the deficit to 85-70. A three and a made free throw from Burse cut the deficit to 85-74. A layup by Edwards cut the deficit to 89-79 before the Trojans closed out a 91-79 win.
Chargois and Lampley each recorded 19 points while Burse added 12 off the bench and Amos III added 11. Chargois had a team-high six rebounds. Edwards added four assists. Chargois had two steals and a block.
The Hornets went 26-77 (33.8%) from the field, 10-24 (41.7%) from three and 17-24 (70.8%) from the free throw line.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, February 1st at 3 pm against William Woods University at Emerson Performance Center.
