ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 85-57 to #14 William Woods University on Saturday afternoon at Emerson Performance Center. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 6-15 on the season and 3-10 in American Midwest Conference play while the Owls improve to 19-2 and 11-1 in AMC play.

Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) tied the game at two with a jumper. A layup from senior forward Kenodre Brown (Los Angeles, Calif./Grandview University) gave the Hornets a 4-2 lead. A 6-0 run by the Owls made it 8-4 before senior guard
Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College) cut the deficit to 8-6 with two free throws. A three from senior forward
Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) made it 9-8 Hornets. A three from junior forward
Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) made it 12-8 with a three of his own. A jumper from Brown made it 14-10 Hornets with 9:55 left to play in the first half. A layup from Amos III made it 16-15 Hornets. Two free throws from Chargois pushed the lead to 18-15. A 6-0 run by the Owls gave the Owls a 21-18 lead. The Owls would close out the first half on a 10-3 run to hold a 31-21 lead at the half.
The Owls extended their lead to 37-21 with a 6-0 run to start the second half. A three from Chargois cut the deficit to 37-24. A 5-0 run by the Owls pushed the lead to 42-24. A jumper from Lampley cut the deficit to 42-26. A jumper from Amos III cut the deficit to 46-28. A layup from junior
Justin Edwards (Corona, Calif./Oakwood University) cut the deficit to 53-32. Burse would make three free throws to cut the deficit to 59-35. A three from Burse cut the Owls lead to 64-40. An old fashioned three point play by Chargois cut the Owls lead to 66-43. Two free throws from Lampley cut the deficit to 73-47. Two free throws from Burse would cut the Owls lead to 73-49. A layup from Amos III cut the Owls lead to 75-51. Burse would make a layup to cut the Owls lead to 83-57 before the Owls closed out the 85-57 win.Â
Burse would record a season-high 15 points while Lampley added 14 and Chargois added 10. Lampley added eight rebounds in the game. Edwards and Amos III each recorded two assists. Burse added two steals in the game.
The Hornets went 19-57 (33.3%) from the field, 4-21 (19.0%) from three and 15-17 (88.2%) from the free throw line.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, February 8th at 3 pm at Central Baptist University in Conway, Ark.
