CREVE COEUR, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer picked up a 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex against Mission. With the win, the Hornets improve to 5-5-2 on the season and 2-0 in American Midwest Conference play while the Patriots fall to 0-9 on the season and 0-2 in AMC play.
Senior midfielder
Matteo Rissato Prado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Carl Sandburg College) had a chance to give the Hornets an early lead in the 12th minute as the Patriots keeper would deny him the goal. Sophomore forward
Jovan Momic (Belgrade, Serbia/Kansas Wesleyan University) would have a chance in the 17th minute as a Patriots defender would keep the ball out of the net. After the Hornets were awarded a penalty kick because of Patriots handball inside the box, Momic would find the back of the net in the 18th minute for his fourth goal of the season. Kyle Nicholls (Norwich, England/Mineral Area College) would be denied a goal by the Patriots keeper. The Hornets would carry a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano/Liceo Galileo Galilei) would be denied his second goal of the season by the Patriots keeper in the 51st minute. In the 54th minute, junior defender
David Casaneda (Cartago Valle del Cauca, Columbia/Coffeyville Community College) would be denied by the Patriots keeper. Momic would be denied his second goal of the game in the 70th minute. Nicholls would send a crossing pass through the box to sophomore forward
Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) as Guerrero would extend the lead to 2-0 in the 80th minute.
Momic would lead with seven shot attempts and three shots on goal.
The Hornets held a 27-6 advantage in shots, 9-0 in shots on goal and 3-2 in corner kicks. With the 27 shot attempts by the Hornets that are the most in a game this season and the third most shots on goal in a game. The six shots against are tied for the second fewest against the Hornets while zero shots on goal are the fewest the Hornets have allowed.
