HANNIBAL, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's volleyball swept Hannibal-LaGrange (25-18, 25-19, 25-17) and fell in three sets (20-25, 15-25, 13-25) to Columbia on Saturday morning. With the split, the Lady Hornets are 10-13 on the season and 7-6 in American Midwest Conference play.
Against the Trojans, junior right side
Trinity Edison (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Central) led the way with nine kills, while senior outside hitter A'nyla Waston (Little Rock, Ark./North Little Rock) added seven kills and sophomore middle hitter
Jehireh Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Althoff Catholic) added six kills. Junior defensive specialist
Jennifer Garcia (Euless, Texas/Euless Trinity) recorded 16 assists and 10 digs for her first double-double of the season. Junior defensive specialist
Alexis Kemp (Kansas City, Mo./University Academy) recorded three service aces and 12 digs. Junior defensive specialist
Dejah Foster (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) recorded a game-high 17 digs. Williams recorded five solo blocks and three block assists.Â
The Lady Hornets recorded 32 kills in the match, 27 assists, seven service aces, 69 digs and nine solo block and eight block assists. The Lady Hornets held the Trojans to a -.192 hitting percentage.
Against the Cougars, Edison and junior outside hitter
Kyla McReynolds (O'Fallon, Ill./Althoff Catholic) each recorded six kills. Junior setter
Isa Smith (Little Rock, Ark./Joe T. Robinson) recorded nine assists. Foster and Garcia recorded a service ace. Foster recorded 10 digs. Williams recorded a solo block and a block assist.
The Lady Hornets recorded 23 kills in the match, 23 assists, 33 digs, two solo blocks and two block assists, and two service aces.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21st at 6 pm at Eureka College in Eureka, Ill.
