COLUMBIA, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer ended in a 0-0 draw at Columbia on Friday afternoon. With the draw, the Hornets end the regular season 7-6-3 and 4-1-1 in the American Midwest Conference while Columbia is 8-5-3 and 4-0-1 in the AMC.Â
With the draw against Columbia it was just the second time the Hornets have earned a draw against the Cougars.
Senior midfielder
Matteo Rissato Prado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Carl Sandburg College) had a chance in the fifth minute as his shot went high. Senior goalkeeper
Matheus Pereira da Silva (Santo Andre, SP, Brazil/Columbia College) would deny the Cougars a goal with a save in the seventh minute. Prado would have another chance as his shot in the 42nd minute was stopped by the Cougars keeper. The game would remain scoreless going into halftime.
Junior midfielder
Adefolarin Adigun (Colchester, England/Moulsham High School) would have his shot blocked in the 47th minute. Pereira da Silva would keep a Cougars header out of the net in the 66th minute to keep it scoreless. Junior midfielder
Gennaro Ammirati (Luni, Italy/Richland College) would have his shot blocked in the 81st minute. Pereira da Silva would keep the Cougars off the board in the 82nd minute. Senior midfielder
Leonardo Mori (Castel d'Azzano/Liceo Galileo Galilei) would miss high in the 86th minute. Pereira da Silva would deny the Cougars in the 87th minute to keep the game tied at zero.
Prado led the way with two shots and one shot on goal. Pereira da Silva made four saves in goal.
The Cougars held an 11-5 advantage in shots, 4-1 in shots on goal and 4-0 in corner kicks.
The Hornets return to action in the AMC tournament as they wait to see what seed they will get. If the Hornets finish third they will play in the AMC quarterfinal on Wednesday, Nov. 5th with time and location to be determined.Â
