Men's Soccer Falls 3-2 at William Woods

FULTON, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's soccer fell 3-2 at William Woods on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 4-5-2 on the season while the Owls improve to 5-5-3 on the season.

Sophomore defender Alexis Santillan (Cordoba, Argentina/Universidad Provincial de Cordoba) would be denied a goal by the Owls keeper in the second minute. In the sixth minute, sophomore forward Jovan Momic (Belgrade, Serbia/Kansas Wesleyan University) would bury his third goal of the season, in which all three goals have come in the last three games, off the pass from junior defender Leonardo El Ayache (Naples, Italy/University of Northwestern Ohio).

Momic would be denied his second goal of the game in the 16th minute as an Owls defender kept the ball from crossing the line. A Hornets defender would keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Hornets in the 20th minute. Senior goalkeeper Kazuyuki Matsumoto (Sanda, Japan/St. Charles Community College) would deny an Owls header to keep the Hornets up 1-0 in the 29th minute. Momic would be denied again by the Owls in the 31st minute. Senior midfielder Matteo Rissato Prado (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Carl Sandburg College) would be denied by the Owls keeper in the 38th minute. The Hornets would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Matsumoto would make saves in the 51st, 57th, 59th and 63rd minutes to keep the game 1-0 for the Hornets. The Owls would tied the game in the 67th minute with a penalty goal. The Owls would take a 2-1 lead just 17 seconds after tying the game. Rissato Prado would have a goal denied by an Owls defender in the 69th minute. Sophomore midfielder Dusan Drca (Belgrade, Serbia/Hill Community College) would be denied by the keeper of the Owls in the 69th minute. Rissato Prado would tie the game in the 69th minute with his second goal of the season. In the 70th minute, sophomore forward Samuel Guerrero (Santiago, Chile/South Kent School) and Santillan would both be denied by the Owls keeper on a potential go ahead goal. The Owls would strike for their third goal of the half in the 87th minute.

Momic would record five shot attempts. Momic and Rissato Prado would record three shots on goal each.

The Hornets held a 14-10 advantage in shots, both teams finished with 10 shots on goal and the Owls held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The Hornets return to action on Saturday, October 11th at 3 pm against Mission University at Lou Fusz Athletic Complex Field 10.
