Men's Basketball Falls at #20 Central Baptist

CONWAY, Ark. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball fell 78-55 to #20 Central Baptist on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hornets fall to 6-16 on the season and 3-11 in American Midwest Conference play while the Mustangs improve to 20-4 on the season and 13-1 in AMC play.

The Mustangs would start the game on a 7-0 run that was halted after senior guard Seth Chargois (Tulsa, Okla./Johnson Community College) made a free throw to cut the deficit to 7-1. A layup by senior guard Kevin Jones (Sikeston, Mo./Dakota State University) cut the deficit to 9-3. A three from junior guard Brandon Vigne (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) cut the deficit to 11-6. A three from Chargois cut the Hornets deficit to 15-9. A layup from senior guard Bennie Amos III (New Orleans, La./Delgado Community College) cut the deficit to 19-11. A layup from Jones cut the deficit to 21-13. A jumper from senior forward Keondre Brown (Los Angeles, Calif./Grandview University) cut the Mustangs lead to 25-15. A layup from Brown cut the deficit to 29-17. A layup from junior forward Koran Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) and a layup from junior forward Ty Lampley (Belleville, Ill./Rend Lake Community College) cut the deficit to 29-21. The Mustangs closed the half on a 7-0 run to hold a 36-21 lead at halftime.

A layup from junior guard Justin Edwards (Corona, Calif./Oakwood University) cut the deficit to 36-23. A layup and free throw from Chargois cut the Mustangs lead to 42-26. Two free throws from Chargois cut the deficit to 45-30. A layup from Brown cut the Mustangs lead to 45-32. A jumper from Jones cut the deficit to 53-36. A three point play by Lampley cut the deficit to 61-39. A layup from Chargois would cut the Mustangs lead to 65-41. A layup from Chargois would cut it to 74-47 in favor of the Mustangs. The Hornets would score eight of the last 12 points as the Mustangs held on for the 78-55 win.

Chargois led the way with 16 points. Lampley recorded 10 rebounds in the game. Vigne would record two assists. Chargois recorded two blocks. Amos III and Chargois recorded two steals each.

The Hornets went 23-72 (31.9%) from the field, 2-20 (10.0%) from three and 7-10 (70%) from the free throw line.

The Hornets return to action on Tuesday, February 11th at 7:30 pm against Missouri Baptist at Emerson Performance Center. Tuesday's theme will be Greek/Black Out.
