ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball falls 67-62 in hard fought game against William Woods University on Saturday afternoon at Emerson Performance Center. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 5-15 on the season and 4-11 in American Midwest Conference play while the Owls improve to 8-12 on the season and 6-8 in AMC play.
The Owls would start the game on a 6-0 run. After layups from junior forward
Marchi Hunter (Menifee, Calif./Vista del Lago) and senior forward
J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) would cut the deficit to 6-4. A three from Jordan cut the Owls lead to 8-7. A layup from junior guard
Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) gave the Lady Hornets a 9-8 lead. The Owls would close with a 6-0 run to hold a 14-9 lead after one quarter of play.

Lauryn Evans (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) tied the game at 14. A layup from Jackson cut the Owls lead to 18-16. A three from senior guard
Samara Swire (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) cut the Owls lead to 20-19. Another three from Evans put the Lady Hornets up 22-20. A three from Swire made it 25-23 Lady Hornets with 3:57 left in the first half. A jumper from freshman guard
Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) cut the Owls lead to 31-29 at the half.
 The Owls extended their lead to 37-29 with a 6-0 run to start the third quarter. A three from Dilosa and a layup from Montgomery cut the Owls lead to 37-34. A jumper from Jackson cut the Owls lead to 43-37. Back-to-back layups from Jordan cut the deficit to 43-41. A layup from Swire cut the Owls lead to 45-44 before the Owls led 47-44 after three quarters of play.

Tyara Davis (Kansas City, Kan./Blue Valley North) cut the deficit to 62-59. Two free throw from Montgomery cut the deficit to 64-62 with 1:11 left in the game. The Owls would score the final three points to hold on to win 67-62.
Jordan had a team-high 14 points while Dilosa added 11 and Montgomery and Swire each went for 10 points. Jordan added 10 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season. Montgomery and Swire each had four assists. Jordan, Dilosa and Hunter all recorded two steals. Jordan, Hunter and Jackson each recorded a block.
The Lady Hornets went 25-67 (37.3%) from the field, 6-16 (37.5%) from three and 6-10 (60%) at the free throw line.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, February 6th at 5:30 pm at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.
