ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University men's basketball picked up a 73-58 win against Missouri Baptist on Tuesday night at Emerson Performance Center. With the win, the Hornets improve to 7-16 on the season and 4-11 in American Midwest Conference play while the Spartans fall to 10-14 on the season and 7-7 in AMC play.

Koran Johnson (St. Louis, Mo.) pushed the lead to 31-10 and gave the Hornets their biggest lead of the game. Two more layups from Johnson made it 35-14. An 11-0 run by the Spartans cut the Hornets lead to 35-25. Back-to-back jumpers from Amos III extended the lead to 39-25 before the Hornets held a 39-28 lead at halftime.

Jermarco Burse (Annapolis, Mo./Truman State University) and a jumper from Amos III pushed the lead to 56-39. A layup by Jones made it 59-45 Hornets with 10:01 left to play. A jumper by Lampley extended the lead to 61-47.A layup by Burse made it 69-55 with 4:29 to play. Two free throws from Chargois would push the lead to 73-58 which would hold for the final 56 seconds giving the Hornets the win.
Amos III would lead with 16 points, Jones added 13, Lampley added 12 and Chargois added 10. Johnson led with eight rebounds. Amos III dished out six assists. Johnson and Chargois each recorded a block. Vigne would record three steals.
The Hornets went 32-61 (52.5%) from the field, 4-20 (20%) from three and 5-9 (55.6%) from the free throw line. The 52.5% from the field was a season-high shooting percentage in a game this season.
