NEVADA, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University women's basketball falls 64-42 at Cottey on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lady Hornets fall to 6-19 on the season and 5-15 in American Midwest Conference play while the Comets improve to 17-8 on the season and 13-6 in AMC play.

A layup from junior guard Cailynn Dilosa (Gary, Ind./Merriville) cut the Comets lead to 4-2. A three from freshman guard Alivia Montgomery (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Central) cut the deficit to 9-5. A free throw from freshman forward Tyara Davis (Kansas City, Kan./Blue Valley North) and two free throws from senior guard Lauryn Evans (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) cut the deficit to 11-8. The Comets would hold an 11-8 lead after one quarter of play.

A free throw from senior forward Toree Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) cut the deficit to 11-9. A layup from senior forward J'Lessa Jordan (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) tied the game at 11. A layup from Jackson gave the Lady Hornets their first lead at 13-11. The Comets would take a 17-13 lead with a 6-0 run. A layup from Davis cut the deficit to 17-15. A jumper from senior guard Samara Swire (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) tied the game at 17. A layup from Davis gave the Lady Hornets a 19-17 lead. The game would be tied at 19 at halftime.

A three from Swire put the Lady Hornets up 22-21. A jumper from Davis would tie the game at 24. A jumper from Montgomery cut the deficit to 27-26. A three from Dilosa cut the deficit to 35-31. The Comets would lead 37-31 after three quarters of play.

Two free throws from Jackson cut the deficit to 37-33. A layup from Davis cut the deficit to 39-35. A 10-0 run from the Comets pushed their lead to 49-35. Two free throw from freshman guard Jayla Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) cut the deficit to 49-37. A free throw from Swire cut the Comets lead to 49-38. A jumper from Dilosa cut the deficit to 59-42 as the Comets closed the game on a 5-0 run to pick up the 64-42 win.

Davis led the way with nine points while Dilosa, Montgomery and Toree Jackson recorded seven points each. Davis led with 10 rebounds. Swire and Toree Jackson each had an assist. Jordan recorded two blocks. Swire and Evans each recorded a steal.

The Lady Hornets went 15-52 (28.8%) from the field, 3-7 (42.9%) from three and 9-14 (64.3%) from the free throw line.

The Lady Hornets return to action on Thursday, February 20th at 5:30 pm at Mission University in Springfield, Mo.
