WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball falls 8-0 and 3-2 in doubleheader on Thursday afternoon against Williams Baptist Universtiy. With the losses, the Hornets fall to 3-16 on the season and 1-13 in American Midwest Conference play while the Eagles improve to 14-8 on the season and 7-7 in AMC play.
In game one, the Eagles scored one in the first, two in the second, three in the third and two in the sixth. Senior shortstop
Austin Martin (Roxana, Ill.) recorded two hits while senior outfielder
Skywalker Mann (Lee's Summit, Mo.) recorded a hit.
In game two, sophomore catcher
Dima Cornell-Neal (Trumbull, Ct.) would double with two outs in the first. Mann would walk. Cornell-Neal and Mann would move up on a wild pitch. Senior first baseman
Stephen Huggins (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) would single to right to score Cornell-Neal. The Eagles would tie the game at one in the bottom of the second and take a 2-1 lead in the third.
Freshman centerfielder
Adrian Martinez (Davie, Fla.) would single to start the fourth. Martin would reach on an infield single to move Martinez to second. Senior outfielder
Za'Maree Tillman (Bakersfield, Calif.) would get hit by pitch to load the bases. Mann would walk with one out to score Martin and tie the game at two. The Eagles would score one in the bottom of the seventh to win it.
Huggins and freshman catcher
Jayden Matthews (Fayetteville, Ark.) would lead the way with two hits while Martin, Tillman, Cornell-Neal and Martinez all recorded a hit. Sophomore right handed pitcher
Avion Wallace (Lee's Summit, Mo.) went six innings giving up two earned runs while getting the no decision.
The Hornets return to action on Friday, March 14th against Williams Baptist at 10 am and 12 pm in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
