ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University softball fell 15-0 in game one and 22-3 in game two of the doubleheader against Ecclesia College on Tuesday afternoon at Stars Park. With the losses, the Lady Hornets fall to 1-15 on the season while the Royals improve to 7-17.
In game one, the Royals scored three in the first, two in the second, five in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth. Freshman infielder
Jadia Phillips (Maryland Heights, Mo./Pattonville) led the way with two hits, while senior infielder
Christal Smith (Jacksonville, Fla./Terry Parker), junior outfielder
Juanesha Washington (St. Louis, Mo./Carnahan), freshman catcher
Brianna Huff (Columbus, Ohio/Private Tree of Life Christian College Prep) and senior infielder
Morgan Nettles (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton) all recorded a hit.
In game two, the Royals scored three in the first. Senior outfielder
Naliya Anderson (St. Louis, Mo./Hazelwood Central) doubled down the leftfield line with one out in the bottom of the first. Freshman infielder
Michaela Thomas (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Westwood Academy) was hit by pitch. Freshman catcher
Jaden Crenshaw (Killeen, Texas/Robert M. Shoemaker) doubled to left center to score Anderson. Huff would single to center and score Thomas. Sophomore infielder
Gracie Schmitte (San Diego, Calif./Mar Vista) would record a sacrifice fly to score Crenshaw and tie the game at three. The Royals would score 10 in the third, three in the fourth and six in the fifth.
Anderson, Crenshaw, Huff and Nettles all recorded a hit. Crenshaw, Huff and Schmitte all had a run batted in.
The Lady Hornets return to action on Saturday, March 22nd at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. at 12 and 2 pm.
