ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Harris-Stowe State University baseball fell 6-3 in game one and 13-1 in game two on Monday afternoon at Stars Park against Hannibal-LaGrange University. With the losses, the Hornets fall to 6-24 on the season and 4-20 in American Midwest Conference play while the Trojans improve to 7-19 on the season and 6-18 in AMC play.
In game one, the Trojans took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Senior outfielder
Za'Maree Tillman (Bakersfield, Calif.) would double with one out in the bottom of the first. Tillman would advance on a groundout. Senior outfielder
Skywalker Mann (Lee's Summit, Mo.) would single to right to score Tillman and tie the game at one. Sophomore catcher
Dima Cornell-Neal would single with two outs in the third. Mann would walk. Senior first baseman
Stephen Huggins (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) would single home junior utility player
Sam Britton (St. Louis, Mo.) as Britton ran for Cornell-Neal to make it 2-1 Hornets.
The Trojans would score a run in the fourth and fifth and three in the sixth to take a 6-2 lead. Huggins would walk to start the Hornets half of the sixth. Sophomore first baseman
Carter Henderson (San Diego, Calif.) would single to right. Freshman centerfielder
Adrian Martinez (Davie, Fla.) would single home Henderson to cut the Trojans lead to 6-3.
Tillman, Cornell-Neal, Huggins, Mann, Henderson, Martinez and freshman middle infielder
Khalil Smith (Memphis, Tenn.) would all record a hit. Mann, Huggins and Martinez would each record a run batted in.
In game two, the Trojans scored six in the second, one in the third and six in the sixth to hold a 13-0 lead. Sophomore second baseman Amilio Rentaria (Houston, Texas) was hit by pitch to start the Hornets seventh. Sophomore outfielder
Branden Miller (East St. Louis, Ill.) singled to right. Freshman first baseman
Miguel Navarro (Raytown, Mo.) would single to left and an error by the leftfielder would allow Rentaria to score to get the Hornets on the board.
